Finished measurements
To fit head circumference: 20-24”, 50-61 cm.
Diameter: 10.25”, 26 cm.
If your head circumference is on the bigger side, you can use a bigger size needle for CO.
Materials
Yarn: 100g of Performance yarn “Simply wool”. 50g/110m. 100% Superwash merino.
Yardage may vary if your gauge/yarn is different.
Needles: US #7 / 4 mm DPNs or circular for magic loop.
Or as required to meet gauge.
Gauge: 20 st & 26 rounds to 4” (10cm) in stockinette, knit in the round, after blocking.
Other notions: stitch markers, tapestry needle.
ABBREVIATIONS
* * Repeat.
BOR Beginning of round (marker).
CDD Center Double Decrease. Slip 2 stitches as if to work a k2tog. Note that you’re slipping these 2 stitches at the same time, Knit the next stitch, pass both slipped stitches together on your working needle, over the stitch you just knit.
DPNs Double pointed needles.

K Knit.
K2tog Knit two stitches together.
Kfb Knit through the front and back loops of the same st (1 st increased).
M1L Pick up the horizontal strand between the needles from front to back, place on left needle, knit the loop you picked up through the back.
M1R Pick up the horizontal strand between the needles from back to front, place on left needle, knit the loop you picked up through the front.
P Purl.
Ssk Slip 2 stitches knitwise (one at a time), then knit 2 slipped stitches together through back loops.

DIRRECTIONS
~BRIM~
Using your preferred method, cast on 80 sts. Place marker for BOR and join for working in the round, being careful not to twist stitches.
Rounds 1-5: K all.
Rounds 6-10: *K2, P2; repeat from * to end.
Round 11: *K7, Kfb; repeat from* to end. [90 sts]
Round 12: *K7, P1, K7; repeat from * to end.
Round 13: K all.
Work Rounds 12-13 another time.

Now you can either follow chart (you will do 6 chart repeats around), or follow written instructions. If you are working from Chart, when you are finished, continue to ~I-CORD STEM~.
Round 1: * K3, M1R, K4, P1, K4, M1L, K3; repeat from * to end of round. [102 sts]

Transfer your 4 sts to DPNs and work I-cord for 5 rounds.
With tapestry needle, thread through remaining 4 sts. Draw up tight, and fasten I-cord to inside of crown.
~FINISHING~
Weave in your ends and soak your beret in warm water.
You can block your beret over a plate, it will give beret its flat, disc-like shape.
