Crochet Shawl with Cotton Eight – free crochet instruction

The shawl is crocheted from top to down.
The design is a combination of colors, different stitches, textures and techniques used. It has a nice drape and balanced thickness. SIZE: WINGSPAN 170 CM. / DEPTH 85 CM.
The shawl can be easily modified by adjusting the number of rows in each section. Have in mind that this will change the yarn needed for the project. YARN: 100% COTTON, FINGERING WEIGHT, (50 GR. ~ 175 M.) / TOTAL AMOUNT NEEDED AROUND 400-420 GR. ~ 1400-1470 M.
The yarn that is used for the pattern is Cotton Eight by www.performanceyarn.com
You will need the following number of yarn balls (this may vary, depending on the crochet style):
Color A (light blue): 4 pcs. (each pc is 50 gr. Cotton Eight 1180)
Color B (light beige): 3 pcs. (each pc is 50 gr. Cotton Eight 1050)
Color C (blue teal): 1 pc. (each pc is 50 gr. Cotton Eight 1010)
Color D (mustard): 2 pcs. (each pc is 50 gr. Cotton Eight 1070)
You can combine the above mentioned 4 colors or make your own combination of 4, 3 or even 2 colors. If you would like to use 3 colors – color C and color D can be one and the same color. If you would like to use 2 colors – color A, color C and color D can be one and the same color. HOOK: 3.00 ММ.
If you crochet tighter or looser, you may change the hook size with half a millimeter bigger or smaller size.
12 rows and 24 stitches double crochet = 10 cm. x 10 cm. (4” x 4”). Gauge is not crucial for this pattern.

Stitches and Abbreviations

ch. – chain
sc –single crochet
dc – double crochet
fpdc – front post double crochet
bpdc – back post double crochet
fpsc – front post single crochet
sp – chain 1 space or chain 2 space (the space between stitches from the previous row)
bobble – bobble – yarn over; (insert hook in the stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop) repeat 4 times more – 6 loops on the hook; yarn over and pull up a loop through all stitches on the hook
picot – chain 2 stitches; insert the hook through the front loop and vertical leg of the single crochet just made; yarn over; pull through all loops on the hook.

Description

Chain 3 in the beginning of the rows counts as first double crochet.
Chain 1 in the beginning of the rows doesn’t count as a stitch.
You must turn the shawl after finishing each row, thus alternating wrong and right side.
Instructions between * * should be repeated, as many times as described in the pattern.
Before changing a color, cut the yarn from the previous color leaving around 20 cm. to weave in after that.
