~GUSSET & FOOT~

In this section you will work the top of the foot from the leg instructions, and the base of the foot will be worked in stockinette stitch.

Pick up and knit 16 (17, 19) sts along the edge of heel flap, PM, work front sts in pattern (same as you were working for the leg), PM, pick up and knit 16 (17, 19) sts along heel flap, K to BOR. [80 (84, 94) sts]

Round 1:  K all. Work front sts in pattern (same as you were working for the leg).

(In the first round after picking up sts at the edge of heel flap, I like to knit picked up sts through the back loop.)

Round 2:  K to 3 sts before marker, K2tog, K1, K across top of foot in pattern to marker, K1, Ssk, K to end. [2 sts dec]

Work Rounds 1-2 a total of 10 (10, 11) times. [60 (64, 72) sts]

To shift beginning of round (BOR) remove marker, 15 (16, 18), slip marker – this is the new BOR, located at the side of the foot.

Keep the second marker after the instep stitches in place.

Continue working in pattern, until the piece measures 7 (8, 9) inches, 18 (20, 23) cm from back of heel. Or 2 (2, 2.25) inches, 5 (5, 5.5) cm short of desired foot length. (If you are able to try the sock on, it should reach the base of your pinkie toe.)

~TOE~

Round 1:  K1, Ssk, K to 3 sts before marker, K2tog, K2, Ssk, K to 3 sts before end of round, K2tog, K1.  [4 sts dec.]

Round 2:  K all.

Work Rounds 1-2 a total of 9 (9, 10) times. [24 (28, 32) sts]

Then repeat Round 1 until 20 (24, 24) sts remains.

Using a tapestry needle, graft (Kitchener stitch) the 10 (12, 12) sts from the top of the sock together with the 10 (12, 12) sts from the bottom of the sock.

Weave in ends and block your sock, if you desire, to make the sts more even.

And make another sock just like this one!  Share your project on social media using #KnitBeatSocks and do not forget to tag me @mrs.dziedataja, so I can enjoy your brand new socks!
