Directions: 1ST SOCK
Cast on according to size guide, divide the stitches evenly between the 4 needles and knit to the desired length for the leg in cuff pattern. For the heel edges, slip the stitches from needles 1 and 4 onto one needle and knit in stocking stitch as instructed. Slip the stitches from needles 2 and 3 onto stitch holders. To shape the toe, continue using stocking stitch and gradually incorporate the outer stitches as follows: on the right side, knit together through the back of the stitch, the last stitch of the row with the next stitch from the outer left section, turn and slip the first stitch purl-wise.On the wrong side, purl together through the back of the stitch, the last stitch of the row with the next stitch from the outer right section, turn and slip the first stitch knit-wise. Repeat until only the stitches of the middle section remain on the needle. Now continue in rounds, in stocking stitch, dividing the stitches again between the 4 needles as instructed, dividing the toe stitches between needles 1 and 4 respectively. For the gusset, using needle 1, pick up one stitch from every 2nd row from the left edge of the heel (see size guide). Pick up and knit the stitches from needles 2 and 3.
Using needle 4, pick up one stitch from every 2nd row from the right edge of the heel (see size guide)
.
Now decrease the stitches previously picked up on the heel edges. To do this, in every 2nd round, knit together the third and next to the last stitch on the 1st needle, and on needle 4, slip the 2nd stitch, knit the 3rd stitch, then pass the slipped stitch over. Continue decreasing until there are the same number of stitches on needles 1 and 4 as when starting the heel. For the length of the foot, continue in stocking stitch according to the size guide (measured from the middle of the heel to the top of the toe). For the toe, continue in stocking stitch and decrease as follows: on the 1st and 3rd needles, knit the third and next to the last stitch together, and on needles 2 and 4, slip the 2nd stitch, knit the 3rd stitch, then pass the slipped stitch over. Continue decreasing in this way on the 2nd round only and until only half of the stitches remain. Then, continue decreasing in this way in every round, drawing up and securing the remaining 8-12 stitches with double yarn.
Knit the 2nd sock in the same way.
